First Dead Space Wii Details: An On-rails Prequel
Said to be "built from the ground up and developed exclusively for Wii," Dead Space Extraction will apparently "marry the innovative motion controls of the Wii Remote with a frenetic first person perspective to create a new action-packed horror experience."
Executive producer Steve Papoutsis noted that the title is an on-rails shooter in an interview with IGN, but promised that it "is not your typical rail shooter," adding that the "goal is to innovate and push the genre forward like Dead Space did for third-person action survival horror."
Due out this fall, the prequel to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 action game follows the events of the Aegis VII mining colony as it is overrun by horribly mutated monsters, with the Wii edition starring a heroine new to the series.
Dead Space Extraction will pack some sort of cooperative multiplayer along with new weapons, enemies and puzzles, though details on the multiplayer were not given.
"As we were developing Dead Space, we realized that there was so much of the story going untold," said EA Redwood Shores VP Glen Schofield. "Dead Space Extraction tells that story with all of the intensity, blood and gore that fans would expect."

Man - I hope this comes out on PC, PS3, X360 in some form of DLC or something. This sucks, I'm a huge fan of DS, and would love to play the prequel, but why should I have to buy a Wii to do so?

Well... It's not like other consoles can utilize it's motion sensing capabilities. I mean sixaxxis? C'mon. I'm sure if they developed for the Wii, they had a perfect idea in how to use the Wii's controller. Why should innovation be limited by forcably releasing to all consoles?
I see it this way:
Release exclusively for Wii, along with kick ass innovation/controls or;
Release for all consoles with inferior FPS controller controls.
The Wii is the second best choice for FPS games due to it's motion sensing. But I still think that mouse and keyboard will always beat any other controls head to head with any other platform.
Think about it.-

Discount the genre as a whole??
I love FPSers as much as the next guy, but why should every FPSers be limited by the controller?
Motion sensing DOES matter if it were a traditional FPSer, because it immerses the player so much more.
Now don't get me wrong, there are some decent FPSers on consoles, but ultimately, the control scheme will always be flawed if one uses a controller.
Now since this is an on-rails shooter, I will be very disappointed mainly because I had hopes for this game. How can one be immersed if one cannot move freely? THAT is what I was hoping for the Wii version, but since any on-rails shooter can be ported I see no reason why this game should only be on one console.
It's a shame, really.

I find it ironic that the guys that don't own Wiis seem more interested in this game than us that do own one. I have a PC, which will always be my primary gaming setup and I have a Wii. I have no plans on buying this game do to the fact it's a copout, a cash-in, on-rails. If' I'm not lazy I might rent it, but I figure if anything I'll just watch it on YouTube, as I doubt it will be any worse that watching my Wii play the game for me.
