Unreal Tournament 3 Retail Steam Registration Opens
The update will bring over 50 Steamworks Achievements, along with "a host of new features and enhancements in AI, Server Browsing, Demo Recording, Mod Support, and more." A more detailed list of the upcoming changes is available here. Steam registration is only required for the achievements. Registration is a simple matter of clicking the main Steam menu option "Games" and selecting "Activate a product on Steam."
Any CD key should be eligible for activation, including versions purchased from other digital distribution services. Also note that the activation will require a new installation of the game, so users will want to delete the old one in order to avoid pesky hard drive bloat. [Thanks Visceral Monkey.]

Is the steam treatment working? Has this game come back from the dead?

When will developers stop using gamespy? There hasnt been one game in the last 4 years that had a gamespy browser built in that didnt have a bunch of retarded issues on launch, and 99% of them still have issues now.
I'm sure a few devs even went so far as to remove the gamespy browser and build their own in with a patch later on. -

Did the game get more fun since the demo? I think everyone played the UT series to death... The assault game mode was the only thing keeping UT2k4 alive. Then UT3 demo came out ... meh.
They needed to go more TF2. Where you don't have to understand how to run a map to be the victor. That your skill set doesn't have to be the best at everything (if you're relying on weapon pickups). There's a whole different dimension than just running and gunning.
Maybe it wasn't that... Assault has a lot of depth... but I think the demo underwhelmed people so it was
DOA when so many other games came out.-
I always thought Onslaught was the best part of 2k4...Assault didn't do it for me...it was basically just a rush through some objectives that never lasted very long. It was too linear and after a while people figured out how to beat the map in the blink of an eye so that matches just weren't fun...Onslaught at least had some give and take.
