'Very Different' Team Fortress 2 Mode Coming 'Soon'
"A new Payload map is in the works, more community maps are on the way and the team will soon unveil a very different new game mode," writes The Escapist in a story on Walker and the team at Valve. Walker also revealed that while the team is primarily focusing on bolstering the game's existing classes, it does have a running list of candidates for an entirely new class.
"We've got several new class designs floating around, some of which we like a lot, but right now we're focusing on the broadening of our existing classes through the addition of the unlockables," said Walker.

Maximum Wootage! I wonder what the new mode will be, a multistage objective thing would be fun, though they could pretty much do anything.

I agree. Something with multiple objectives akin to UT2004's Onslaught or Assault or whatever it was called.. Would be fun, it would be classic in the sense that it would be a chokepoint gametype where concentrated play is at hand with large out of control melees occurring onscreen. It leaves a lot to the imagination with the design style they have. Perhaps the first objective is to hack into a gate or blow open a secret back entrance into a fortified base that the Defensive team has to well.. defend. Then after the offense does that they have to steal a launch key AND code from separate locations. Finally, take both of those to a final point near the end and launch off a missile that blows everyone to gibby goodness.
I don't know about you but that sounds fun to me. Not the most inventive scenario but you could see what geniuses like the people at Valve could do with it. -

I liked the way Resistance 2 did multiobjectives, how each team was split up and did different things. Though I have been reading on Killzone 2 multiplayer modes, and the way they do objectives sounds cool too. Though I think whatever the new mode is, most people will still probably play CTF or Push-CP maps.
