New Fallout 3 DLC Screenshots, Details: 4-5 Hours of Gameplay for $10

The first downloadable content for Bethesda's Fallout 3 should provide about "four or five hours" of gameplay, and will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10) when it is released in January, according to developer Bethesda.

The Operation: Anchorage DLC will see Fallout survivors participating in the historical liberation of Anchorage from the Chinese Red Army by way of a virtual reality simulator.

"Operation: Anchorage focuses mainly on a combat/stealth path," said Bethesda DLC producer Jeff Gardiner to IGN. Gardiner noted that the pack will include new weapons, armor, achievements, and a "Covert Ops" perk. "The player will have to use a lot of their standard combat skills, along with several new tools that will only be available in the downloadable content," he added. "These include interactive Strike Teams under the player's command and unique armor, weapons, and other exotic gadgets."

Gardiner also revealed a few details of the second and third packs, planned for February and March releases, respectively.

The second pack, titled The Pitt, will be set in Pittsburg, which apparently escaped nuclear annihilation.

"While Pittsburgh wasn't directly hit in the nuclear onslaught, it's still had years of decay. The surrounding water is also heavily irradiated, which tends to have an effect on those that live near it," said Gardiner.

Gardiner also revealed that the third DLC pack, Broken Steel, will increase the game's overall level cap. Broken Steel will also add new monsters and perks, and is set to allow players to continue exploring the wasteland after its completion.

Had my first disappointment with Fallout 3 today on my second play through. Allthough it feels like an entirely new game since 75% of what I've done is new, sorry Megaton, I am saddened by my HW guy's lack of damage dealing.

I was expecting Fallout Tactics type gatling gun behavior, basically leaving behind what looks like an exploded L4D boomer when you open up on an enemy. What I got was dead after dropping 100 rounds into an Mutant brute.

The gatling gun in FO3 sucks, truth be told. I never use it.

I don't use any of the heavy weapons unless I'm just screwing around. Give me a combat shotgun, Lincoln's rifle, a chinese assault rifle, dart gun, and some frag mines and I'm good.

Big Guns in general don't do the previous Fallout games justice.

100 HW here with all applicable perks except bloody mess. I learned to hate bloody mess when, in my first play through, I would hunting rifle a ghoul in the head from across the room and his legs exploded.

Is there any HW that makes the skill useful? Havent tried the laser gat, but regular gat and rocket launcher are pretty lame.

Try some of the unique weapon variants (Flamer, Minigun, etc)

        They're noticeably better.
