Ghostbusters Release Date Clarified

11
Narrowing the vague 2009 release date initially provided for Ghostbusters, publisher Atari has now revealed that the anticipated classic movie tie-in will arrive next June.

The date was announced during Atari's press event today, with MCV publishing the news. It was not specified if the date applies to North America and Europe or just EU, though both territories are seeing near-simultaneous releases of major titles.

The Ghostbusters game is slated to hit PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 care of developer Terminal Reality, with Red Fly Studios handling the PS2, Wii and Nintendo DS editions.

Ghostbusters was originally slated for release this fall, but that changed when the game was dropped by former publisher Sierra after it merged with Activision. Atari picked up publishing rights for the title last month.

Like any other card-carrying geek out there, I desperately want this to be a good game, which both types of platforms (console OR pc) properly developer and designed with each specific platform's strengths in mind. But why can't I escape the sinking sensation that it's A. Going to suck or at the best be mediocre, or B. be decent on one platform (probably consoles) and crappy on the other?

I must carry the cynic gene. Sigh.

EDIT - after the first comma that should read, "with both types of platforms" not "WHICH both types of platforms." Sorry folks.

EDIT #2 (UGH!) - after the above listed correction, the next part should read "properly developed and designed)...not "properly DEVELOPER and designed."

I give up. Someday we'll get one of those there newfangled EDIT button thingies here at the Shack! Yee-haw!

There's a reason we don't have an edit button. Most of the hilarity of this place would be lost if we had one.

Having no edit button makes things NASTY GOOD
