October Console Game Sales: Fable 2 Tops the Charts
Meanwhile, Ubisoft's Far Cry 2 did not make the list despite showing a strong debut on the PC, while EA's Dead Space barely squeaked onto the list in the 10th position.

I remember watching an interview before the season began where some industry experts had to list their predicted Hits and Misses, one suggested Fable 2 would be the big flop of the year.

I'm of two minds on that one. I rented Fable 2 and I enjoyed it, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy it looking at all the other titles that were coming out a week or two after it. I really wanted to pick it up, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend the $60, and now I'm glad that I didn't because I wouldn't touch it now because I have other games that are calling to be more.
I'm really impressed that Fallout 3 did about 1/2 the numbers that Fable 2 did. FO3 was out 3 days before the end of the month. F2 was out for over two weeks before the end of the month. Factoring in the other platforms for FO3 in those 3 days I'm sure they got pretty close to F2's numbers. -
There was no way Fable 2 would be a flop in the sales department...just too much interest in it for it to fail in that respect.
I would argue it is a flop on delivering for the hype though. Yahtzee nailed it in his review for Zero Punctuation. Sure it sold a lot but I think a lot of people think it's just a so so game.
Fable 2 has taken a back seat to Fallout 3 for me...I'm much more interested in the Fallout 3 world than the Fable 2 world (I did not play the previous titles of either franchise)...I've only scratched the surface of it's content so far. Fable 2 it seems like I was pretty much done with it after about a week of play. I've been playing Fallout 3 pretty much non-stop since I got it on release day.
