Installing Xbox 360 Games Makes Them Look Better?

46
Installing games to the Xbox 360 hard drive may do more than just reduce load times. According to Variety's Ben Fritz, it made Lionhead's Fable 2 look prettier:
Fable 2 looks noticeably better. The graphics are sharper and brighter. So much so that it's like the game, or my graphics processor, has gotten an upgrade.

Optional game installation is one of the many features packed in the New Xbox Experience, a free software update coming November 19, though it still requires the game disc to be present in the system. A public test of the update is underway.

Shacknews has contacted Microsoft for more information on the matter.

This is what I am guessing. Which is why first thing I am doing is installing Mass Effect to see how it affects that games terrible pop-in.

Same here. That, and Oblivion to see if the load times improve drastically.

Mass Effect PC still had some nasty pop-in so I wouldn't hold your hopes too high.

Not from my experience. While it was there, it was FAR, FAR less noticeable than the ever-present texture pop-in of the 360 version (especially in cutscenes). But it probably varied from machine to machine.

My guess is while it will still help on the 360 version, it won't be the silver bullet. It still can't load many textures into memory with its small amount of unified RAM.
