Sony Patents Motion-sensitive Break Apart Controller
The application, filed on June 23 and recently discovered by NeoGAF, details the use of a camera, such as the PlayStation Eye, to track movement via light sensors within the controller. The controller utilizes ultrasonic frequencies to determine distance, with the camera also capable of tracking a player's face and body movements.
In addition, multiple devices can be connected side-by-side with a faceplate, or end-to-end to create a wand-like device. However, no information is available as to when, or if, the curiously shaped controller will make its public debut.
