Far Cry 2 Gone Gold

21
With just a few days left until Far Cry 2's retail debut on October 21, publisher Ubisoft just announced that the open-world shooter has gone gold and entered manufacturing.

Developed this time around by Ubisoft Montreal--the PC original was crafted by Crytek--Far Cry 2 will hit PS3 and Xbox 360 at $60, with the PC version coming in at $50. Additionally, those that pre-order the PC version through Valve's digital distribution platform Steam will receive $5 off.

What about how the Steam version won't contain the pre-order bonus levels that the Gamestop and Ubi preorders will contain?

Eh. Have you SEEN the level editor for this game? It is insanely awesome (and designed for use on consoles.) Even though I am buying it for PC and hate "consolitis," I am very excited about the level editor. Even if those levels dont become available free to everyone on console (or PC), I think its likely people will either recreate them, or make better ones.

no idea how user-created level distro will work on the console, i'm just blindly assuming theres something there for it after all the work they put into the editor.

I put $5 down for the preorder just because of that. I figure I may as well get the 3 extra hours if I'm going to buy the game anyway.

So if the game is not a Valve one, will there be any problems like LAN games against a store bought, or mods not working? If it's not a Valve game, I just assume it is better to get a physical copy.
