The jungle section looks great, but the water? Swimming has always been the bane of games, and I don't see this being any exception.

      I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Really? I always felt that swimming was always handled fairly well in in the Tomb Raider series.. better than most other games with swimming.

I wonder, do they use motion capture for swimming, or does it not work underwater?

Theorically yes. Some motion capture system are purely optical, just using white balls on your actor/stunt and regular HD cameras. So in theory you could setup a large transparent basin setup your cameras around and capture the ation this way..
In theory at least; I've got no clue whether it'd actually work or not.. Maybe the water would interfere too much with the lights on the markers.. No idea.

Poor execution previously doesn't prove that an idea itself is poor. Hopefully they did their prototypes and decided what they had was fun.

        i think it adds "realism"

But it doesn't add "fun", and in theory, that's why we play games about raiding tombs from the perspective of a ridiculously well-endowed British woman.

I agree with you that not many devs. have been good at making Water levels. Some parts look really cool (Fuck yeah, shark fighting!) and some just look like typical annoying Water level staples that need to be buried (DODGE THE JELLYFISH!).
