MS: Xbox 360 Sales Jump 600% After Price Cut
"Coming off the heels of the console price drop last week, Microsoft Xbox 360 sales have surged, with retailers reporting over 100% sales lift for all Xbox 360 models compared to the previous weekend," reads the Microsoft release received by Kotaku.
"Additionally, retailers are reporting that between Friday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 7, some Xbox 360 models were selling at six times the rate they were the weekend prior," the company continued.
Taking effect last Friday, September 5, the price cut saw the following $50-80 price drops across the three Xbox 360 models:
- Xbox 360 Arcade (No Hard Drive): $199, down from $279
- Xbox 360 Pro (60GB HDD): $299, down from $350
- Xbox 360 Elite (120GB HDD): $399, down from $449

Well, I'm buying one myself. Why? My last one got the red rings of death, and my dog pee'd on it before I could send it to MS.

So dog piss voids the warranty? Good 2 know. I'm seriously considering trying one of those methods to force the RROD on my old non elite one as it just refuses to die. I rly rly want to have it replaced with one of the falcon ones cuz it's so damn quiet and has built in HDMI, unlike my damn launch console. I'll have to make sure once I get it to die that I don't let any dogs near it.

Not true if bought through Best Buy. I don't ship it to MS, they just hand me a new one off the shelf. I know this cuz my Elite did RROD after a year of beating the shit out of it and I went to BB and they just turned it on, confirmed the RROD and sent me to the XBOX aisle to get a new one. The Falcon version actually feels Elite compared to the first one. I hate to say good things about BB but there you go.

They only replace your old xbox with and old referbished xbox... they don't upgrade you to a higher model or an Elite except under extreme circumstances. I've heard a couple people who were on their 7th or 8th RROD and they complained enough until they got an upgrade. Generally that doesn't happen though.
