Bungie Working on 'Three Distinct Projects'
"At the moment we do have three distinct projects underway within Bungie—some familiar, some not. Some on a closer horizon, some quite far off," a Bungie employee wrote on the developer's official website.
The studio noted that it has no plans to make any official announcements at next month's Penny Arcade Expo, but said that more information would be made available "when the time is right."
Publisher Microsoft confirmed last week that Bungie is indeed working on a new Halo title beyond its assistance with Ensemble Studios' RTS Halo Wars and the enigmatic Peter Jackson-led Halo game.
The developer had planned to unveil one of those three projects at last week's E3 2008, teasing a reveal on its official website. The unveiling was postponed by Microsoft, with the project later confirmed to be a new Halo game.
"We didn't feel we needed to show Halo to have a great show, to pay homage to our core audience, to have a lot of news," Microsoft executive Don Mattrick told Eurogamer, stressing that the title would be formally unveiled at a dedicated event.
"It was an embarrassment of riches and we couldn't fit it in," he added. "How great is that? I think that's awesome."
