Call of Duty: World at War Screens Display Diversity

9
New screenshots released today from Treyarch's upcoming shooter Call of Duty: World at War present a variety of environments not yet seen in the World War II game.

World at War will allow players to control both a US marine in the Pacific theater and a Russian soldier on the Eastern Front. Under construction by Call of Duty 3 developers Treyarch, the game is said to follow in the mold Call of Duty 4, with many of the same features--including an experience-based multiplayer mode--set to appear.

Call of Duty: World at War is slated to arrive on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS this fall. For more on the game, check out our recent preview.

I never realized the stats of Russian casualties in WW2 compared to just about any other nationality. 16+ million civilian deaths.

In the end the civilians and military were practically indistinguishable, they were taking them off the streets and sending them straight to the front lines. Russia's casualties were retarded high all around, relying more on devotion to "Mother Russia" than actual training.

the soviets had plenty of strategic tactical nous. It's an american/western myth that the soviets only won by employing human wave tactics. That's not to say there wasn't some of that, but the soviets had great equipment, strategy, and tactics to go with it.

The Il-2 and T-34 combo is insane. Also Mosin Nagant is an excellent rifle.

Their tactics kind of sucked early on after the purge. Luckily they didn't lose General Winter.

Good question. I'm guessing since we dropped some atomic bombs (resulting in enemy casualties only*) America might be the winner there.

*I know they were mostly civilians, but in terms of Kills to Deaths they should be counted as enemies.

Well Germany's whole holocaust thing kind of puts them in the lead. That's like 10 million right there.

Germany easily had the best combat K:D but being far outnumbered it didn't matter in the end.

The majority of Nazi Germany's casualties during the war was on the eastern front, against the soviet union. That D-Day and the allies singlehandedly ended the war is a myth
