Metal Gear Online Gets New Mode, Match Option

16
A new patch update for the online component of Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) is now available, offering a new gameplay mode and match option for Metal Gear Online players.

According to Ars Technica, the new "Team Sneaking" mode tasks one of two teams with using stealth to infiltrate the enemy team's base and destroy a key target. The mode makes use of many conventions from the game's single-player mode, such as a caution phase which springs up once a member of the stealth team is spotted.

The update also incorporates a new "Headshots Only" host option, which penalizes players for killing targets by any means except a direct headshot.

The patch is available now, and will be automatically downloaded upon starting up Metal Gear Online.

how's the Online Multiplayer of this game? Haven't picked it up yet, but thinking about it... Not a particularly big fan of the MGS style SP.

The auto match is pretty fast, usually less than a minute and you're into a game. Fun, but frustrating too. Pushing 3 buttons in order to aim and shoot can be clunky for deathmatches (while it wasn't such a big deal for the single player as you should have been sneaking 90% of the time).

It's quite awesome. Fairly different in pacing and tactics from the SP, it's a bit more standard-fare run and gun with some really good teamplay elements. I really loved the MGS3:S online component as well, but it was hard to find players sometimes. No such problem with MGO, at least not yet.

Its Like counter-strike but in 3rd person view and the map rotation isn't quite as diverse yet

      Very paint ball style maps

Its still pretty fun but i'd play battlefield bad company over this

Comparing MGO to Counter-Strike is kind of like comparing Quake to Jedi Knight. Feedback, weapon effectiveness, and pretty much every element beyond "shoot guys to kill them, usually in a team military-style setting" is quite different.
