Forza 3 Spans Two DVDs, Has Over 100 Tracks?

31
Internal documents from marketing research firm Intellisponse indicate that the next entry in Turn 10's Xbox-exclusive racing simulation series is apparently so massive that it spans two DVDs.

Specifically, the firm claims the unannounced game will pack "over 400 cars and 100 tracks."

The information comes as part of massive data leak from Intellisponse that was documented by NeoGAF. The company's clients include Microsoft, Activision, and many others. As Intellisponse is a marketing research firm, this data could represent market surveys or test concepts instead of actual facts.

The documents also note that Microsoft is toying with the idea of a collector's edition that would include a "special VIP program that would entitle the user to all future Forza 3 downloadable content, access to exclusive online race events and prizes, extra server space" and more.

ha, marketing people are so out of touch with reality it's almost funny, yeah 100 tracks that will happen.

With each track having 3-4 different configurations it wouldn't be that hard to have 100 tracks.

Exactly. There's a difference between 100 tracks and 100 unique locations. The PGR series did the same thing.

watch there are 12 tracks each with a fwd, reverse, mirrored fwd, mirrored reverse, and a day/night option for all those configs

But even at that you're still looking at a ton of race tracks. So maybe they're not 100 unique tracks, but I'd much rather have multiple variations of a solid racing course than tons and tons of weak race tracks in a variety of unique and exciting locations.

Yeah day + night cycle for the enduro races would be hot shit too. Hopefully turn 10 has hired some people to bump the graphics up a few notches. They don't need to do a lot with the physics but I'm sure they have some plans for making those better also.

The graphics and art direction should be Turn 10's #1 concern right now. They could probably get away with a truncated version of their physics engine and most people wouldn't even notice (I'm not saying they should - just that they probably could get away with it and still keep their fanbase pleased).

The graphics though? GT5 Prologue, GRID, the Project Gotham series... Anyone who managed to put together a good-looking racer with a cockpit view left them looking silly.

The graphics even coming close to GT5 Prologue in Forza 3 would make it the definitive sim racer for this generation of consoles. Period.

I'm pumped to see what they manage.

GT5 Prologue's physics aren't up to Forza's standards. I doubt much will change with GT5. I could care less about how pretty the cars look.

I am a GT fanboy and unfortunately I have to agree with this post. I played Forza 2 quite religiously and the way cars handled was so realistic it's retarded (at least for a console, simbin on the pc has their games on lock down). GT5 Prologue felt much more arcadey, and while it's beautiful, that won't keep me interested. I really hope they revamp the physics before GT5 comes out.

Shit. I'm a GT fanboy as well who hadn't yet played GT5 Prologue (or the early demos). I was planning to get a PS3 when GT5 comes out. But if the driving dynamics aren't at least damn close to Forza 2, I might reconsider... :/

i thought the graphics were fine for the most part. forza 2 just need some serious anti-aliasing and better lighting.

I agree and that's why Ajax said the overall art direction is what needs the biggest kick in the ass.
