Dungeon Siege 3 Not Officially Planned

2
Responding to the apparent confirmation of a third Dungeon Siege entry, Gas Powered Games founder Chris Taylor has stated he was only speaking hypothetically when he spoke of the game.

"When asked if we were considering taking lessons learned from Space Siege back into the Dungeon Siege [role-playing] series, the answer was, yes," he told CVG.

Taylor specified that the multi-character parties of the past two Dungeon Siege made it difficult to focus on a central character, which resulted in the decision to focus on fewer characters in the upcoming sci-fi PC RPG Space Siege.

"We have not made any official announcements, or have any official plans [of a new Dungeon Siege game], but we are kicking ideas around," he added. "It would be a long time before another DS game was finished and saw the light of day."

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Judging from the plans to reduce it to one controllable character, I would say it's a crisis averted.

dungeon siege 1 rocked... dungeon siege 2 was better.. until:

      1) the monsters respawn, this was gay, it confined you to being able to stick to one area, it also allowed noobs to stay back and train a large party up to be strong, the thing that made ds1 good was the fact that you could train a large weak party, or a small elite one.. and on that topic, dont lose the multi-party feature, in the ds games you can fly solo if you want.. i have and i know someone else who also has, its hard yes, but its a good challenge.

2)i maxed my cash in dungeon siege 2 bout half way through.. fix it in #3

3)the paths were completely PACKED with monsters, in my first time playing i got bored as hell killing them all and went on the net and got the health cheat and walked right past them... bet bit bout that was the wizard guys can still kill you with the cheat on!

i never played ds2 again because of those reasons.... but ds1 continues to rock and i still play it on the occasion.

DONT lose multi-party, leave soloing to the pros, its better that way.
