Trion, Sci-Fi Channel Partner for New Franchise

4
Publisher Trion World Network and cable network Sci-Fi Channel have entered into an agreement to co-develop a new franchise through video games and television programs.

No details were provided on the project, though the companies noted that "the cross-platform design will allow the storyline and the universe to grow and expand over time, building depth and dynamically evolving the world."

"Trion's San Diego studio and our platform and publishing groups in Austin and Redwood City will work closely with Sci Fi's creative team in developing a dynamically evolving, massively social, connected entertainment franchise across multiple formats and platforms of choice," explained Trion CEO and co-founder Lars Buttler.

"We are laying the foundation for an exciting new co-development model between top cable entertainment and lifestyle brands such as Sci-Fi and connected game and interactive entertainment companies such as Trion," he concluded.

Had your hatorade this morning? They don't mention what IP (NEW IP), any details beyond "MMO" and Sci-Fi CHANNEL.. So.. something that's done in conjunction with the Sci-Fi Channel is somehow shitting on your childhood? Do you have the Sci-Fi Channel logo branded on your ass or something?

"No details were provided on the project," .. was this not clear? This is a new IP.. they're making dynamically evolving content, whether that means episodic, or constant, or what. I think you need to lay off the forums for a while, man. You're in serious instant-negative-reaction mode.

"a new franchise through video games and television programs." ... Seriously man.. there was almost no way to misconstrue this press release, but.. job well done!

So they'll support it for a year or so and drop it if it gets too popular. Or they'll replace it with dumb downed stories and hack actors. Then they'll replace Sci-Fi quests with wrestling.

ROFL.. that could be. :) I just was trying to understand VM's major hating going on there with so little info. And the fact that his hate didn't even make sense. If they were doing this, say, based on the original Buck Rogers or something, than I'd get it..
