New Prince of Persia Screenshots Emerge

46
The first screenshots of Ubisoft's recently announced reboot of its long-running series Prince of Persia (PC, PS3, 360, NDS) have surfaced on several internet message boards, giving a glimpse of the game's "illustrative" art style in action.

"The previous trilogy mixed the Arabian Nights in with historical Persia," said creative director Jean-Christophe Guyot earlier this month. "We decided we'd prefer to return to the tales of the Thousand and One Nights for something more colourful."

The new Prince of Persia franchise will arrive on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS this holiday season.

Kudos for trying something different, but in my opinion, this doesn't look very good.

wtf...looks like they wanted to change it and they just made it look 20 times better. Good job on their part.

holy shit wow. this looks incredible, on what basis would this look bad? if the fidelity keeps up during gameplay, this could be one of the most stunning illustrative textured 3d games ever. To be so broken must suck...

I hate comments like these. What doesn't look "very good" about it? I know this is the Internet, but maybe try backing up your statements?

I agree. The character design looks lame as hell, and I don't care how necessary a game mechanic it is, that metal hand looks fucking stupid.

Still, I bet it'll play great and the tech looks solid. Just wish the art would match it :(.

There certainly must be something broken about you to be unwilling to accept a difference of opinion.

You CAN have a difference of opinion. Simply because it is different does not spare you from being both wrong and possessing of poor taste. Uwe Boll probably loves his movies, despite what the rest of the world thinks...

I'm with you, and I've always been a fan of non-photorealistic rendering. I just don't think the inking works here.

That being said, the shot where he's above some fire or some shit looks awesome. Not coincidentally, the inking is hardly visible in that shot.

I just can't stand the protagonists look, it's like they tried so hard to make him look "hardcore".

I'd have to agree... I guess the feel of Sands of Time was just a fluke.

You can use the langauge bar to swap to another keymap (if you can touch type and don't need to look at the keys, of course; no use otherwise).

If the bar isn't showing, right-click an empty part of the Taskbar and turn it on within the Toolbars sub-menu.

I'm not sure it's the right direction for the game BUT I'm going to wait until I see it in motion before I judge the graphics.

I've found that cell shading in games often looks crap in stills but lovely in motion.

I'll buy the game either way so long as the gameplay is as good as the last three.
