New Arkanoid DS Screenshots Arrive

Publisher Taito has released a new set of screenshots for Arkanoid DS, the classic brick-smashin' send-up of the classic arcade title.

Arkanoid DS features classic gameplay expanded with three game modes, two or four person multiplayer, and unlockable levels and backgrounds. Unfortunately, Taito previously confirmed to Shacknews that the Arkanoid paddle—a classic-style dial controller which fits into the system's GBA slot—will not be arriving in North America.

The game is slated for a June 17 release, priced at $19.99.

Arkanoid seems like it could make a good (maybe frustrating) Wii game, controlling the paddle with the Wiimote

  Especially if it were free-form like the Pong game on WiiPlay. That way you could angle hits. I'd buy it.

  I believe there's a web version that can be played on the Wii.
