Infogrames Completes Purchase of Atari
Infogrames previously held a majority stake of 51.4% in Atari.
"Bringing Atari US and Infogrames businesses together will enable us to create a simplified global structure for our business as we seek to re-build a well-managed, cohesive and financially disciplined company," said Infogrames CEO David Gardner.
Atari had been financially troubled for months, posting losses quarter after quarter. As part of the merger, Infogrames has agreed to lend Atari $20 million in cash.

ppl still insist in keeping the Atari name alive. The truth is that the Atari name doesnt relate to quality.

well theres a easy way to settle this correctly.. try comming up with 10 games on the spot that infograms has done from memory no wiki no web searching or what not just right now...if you cant its because you cant associate that name with games really well... but atari, combat, missle command, that crap-tacular pac-man and that disaster e.t. grante back then they really didnt do alot of games themselves they seemed to be other companies putting their stuff in 2600 form so.. but still i can name a few right on the spot because atari will always mean video games to this and hopefully the next generation as dignan said previously.
