Burnout Pardise DLC On The Way, Some Free

5
Some of the upcoming downloadable content for Criterion Games' open-world racer Burnout Paradise (PS3, X360) will be free, creative director Alex Ward has revealed.

"The [new] islands will all be free," Ward wrote on the developer's official forum. The island environments are expected to provide owners with new challenges and tracks.

"That's not to say all of the downloadable content we are working on will be free," he later told videogaming247. "We will charge (price TBC) for some stuff."

Ward remained tight-lipped on the specifics of the content that could incur a charge, noting that the company sees DLC as a way of "continuing to develop the game which we worked on....almost to the point of making a new game.

"New game modes are very important to us, but it's about more than that," he teased.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

ok, so i bought this game when it was released, played it for like half an hour and haven't been motivated to jump back in since. i can't even slam the game for being terrible or anything like that, it just doesn't interest me at all. i loved all the older burnout games... guess the open world aspect just doesn't work for me.

this is just me thinking out loud... and maybe reminding myself i should trade it in for something i'd actually play.

I fully agree. I traded it in for Bully on 360, having a lot of fun with that so far.

I think the problem was I don't know anybody who owns it. I had the same problem with Crackdown...I liked the game but the single player just wasn't that great. However, I recently re-bought it for 25 bucks and it's FUN AS HELL co-op with a buddy.

I got up to A license, have ~70% of the cars. But trying to finish all the races/road rage/marked man is just getting to be too tedious. When I first started playing, it was fun crashing and such, but now when I slam into a civie car 10 feet from the finish line, I immediately turn it off. Will be trading it in soon...

Agreed, drove around for about 20 minutes trying to get in big crashes. Then turned it off.

Agreed again. I tried to like it but the open world aspect just sucked the fun out of it. I don't like having to go search for a race, go to the junk yard to be able to choose a new car, etc.

Beat it in like 2 days, maybe 8 hours total(?). Never used most of the cars received, thought, there has to be more to the game then just this...? Nope.
