Okami Wii Supports Widescreen, 480p

Ready at Dawn's upcoming Wii edition of Clover Studios' beloved wolf adventure Okami will include 16:9 widescreen and 480p progressive scan support, according to a new fact sheet that appeared in publisher Capcom's official store.

The lack of those two features were among the chief complaints critics had regarding the original PlayStation 2 edition, which only outputted in 4:3 and 480i. Both the PlayStation 2 and the Wii are capable of outputting widescreen images in 480p resolution.

Outside of the obvious Wii Remote control tweaks and some miscellaneous technical improvements, developer Ready at Dawn has been adamant that it will not modify the actual content of the game. The Wii edition of Okami arrives in North America March 25.

Not surprising, but great news none-the-less.

Yeah, a confirmation of a lack of disappointment.

I have this on PS2 but have never played it. Since the Wii one will do widescreen and the PS2 one does not I think I'll buy it again for the Wii and play that version.

It's good that Okami and Bully are both seeing new life on current-gen consoles. It seemed a shame for great games to come out on the PS2 after so many people (myself included) had moved on. With a stack of 360 games demanding my attention it was difficult to make myself play the PS2 games. I played a fair bit of Bully but probably only got half way through.

God of War 2 would be the other PS2 game I'd put in this category, but it looked awesome played on the PS3 with some upscaling and rarely was I reminded that I was playing a game for old hardware. That I completed.
