PS3 UT3 Mod Tools Expected Next Week

8
The update to the PC Unreal Tournament 3 editor that will enable modders to convert their user-created content to be compatible with the PlayStation 3 edition of the game is expected to arrive next week.

Though the functionality has not been released to the general public, it has been operational since late December. At that time, developer Epic converted and released a number of user-produced maps and game modes for use with the PS3 version of UT3.

"If all goes well then we should see the update released next week which is what I expect will happen," Epic VP Mark Rein wrote on the developer's official forums. "Obviously the process works, as we put out a few mods before Christmas and people seem to be playing them, but it is the update to the editor that we're testing."

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Oh I'm sure the HUGE PC community for this will be churning out loads of content....

Ya...what happened with this game? I thought UT was really popular. I bought UT3 last week...it was 10% off and me and my bro split the price. Pop it in and head for multiplayer to find that only about 5% of the servers have players. Don't get it...old popular game...this one is just as fun IMO...yet no one bought it.

Simple answer is they fucked up big time, doing basic stuff wrong like releasing a demo with a borked serverbrowser (lol gamespy) and no way to check you ping while playing.

Stuff like that kinda breaks a multiplayer game. Hopefully they will be on the ball next release. They will need it to make up for this turd.

Believe it or don't there actually are tons of mods/mutators being produced.

The mod system for the ps3 is still annoying, but there will be plenty of custom crap for people to who are willing to bother with it.

majority of the stupid mods and custom maps people make end up making me want to play a game less because the good servers get lost in the shuffle due to all the crappy servers running horrible custom shit. I tried playing Counter-Strike Source last week....was hard to find a server playing normal maps without a bunch of stupid ass sounds or zombie mods or special power mods.

people play those mods (zombie, gungame, surfing, etc) because they're fun. and there are tons of normal cs:s servers too so I don't even know how that complaint makes sense. no idea about ut3 but ut2004 the majority play deathmatch/ctf (rest play assault, instagib, bombing run, invasion, etc)

            CS has 70k+ players constantly

UT3 has under 600 regularly, with a peak of around 1,000. Worldwide

The more gamemodes you have, the more fracturing you have of the playerbase. With a huge number of players, that dosent matter, but with a smaller number it does.

refresh the the server list. Count the number of normal servers. Oh and I don't count gay ass 24/7 dust 2 and office as good servers.
