Castlevania Film Production Halted by WGA Strike

8
The Writer's Guild strike has sunk its fangs into another victim: Paul W.S. Anderson's Castlevania picture, to be directed by Sylvain White, has been ground to a halt.

The word comes from Filmwad, which cites necessary script work as the cause of delay.

Anderson originally signed on to both write and direct the feature, but has since left to direct a remake of Death Race. His original Castlevania script has since been reworked by untested writer Ian Jeffers. Anderson remains involved in the project, serving as producer.

Fans of Paul W.S. Anderson (AVP: Alien vs. Predator, Mortal Kombat: Behind the Scenes), Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard, Trois 3: The Escort), and all others looking forward to "Castlevania Sucks" puns, despair.

Well it's nice to see the writer's strike did some good.

Oh come on. Anderson at least makes watchable films. Uwe Boll just shovels shit.

I just think making video game movies is a horrible idea. 10% of them are even watchable. So you know what? Fuck em all. I'd rather not watch hollywood try a thousand times only to succeed a dozen times.

I absolutely hated AvP. The only decent movie he did - which I liked - was Event Horizon .

Strange, I felt the reverse. Quite enjoyed AvP (the only crap part was the no-name actors and I wasn't watching the movie for them, anyway)...never understood why anyone wouldn't like it. Event Horizon had a cool premise but was just way too Hollywood-ized. Ugh.

Two R-rated franchises do not equal a PG-13 neutered mess.

i am sure its no mistake that AvP-R is being made as a rated R film without Anderson involved. The "R" for AvR-R should stand for "Redo", letting us forget the first one even existed.
