More Ghostbusters Game Details Apparate, Developers Named, Yummy Screenshot (Updated)
Original Story: Additional information on the Ghostbusters game revealed yesterday has been uncovered, detailing the title's developers, publisher, tentative release date, and voice acting talent.
Terminal Reality will be handling the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, while Red Fly Studio has been tasked with the PlayStation 2, Wii, and DS iterations, reports Variety. Terminal Reality has recently been responsible for the vampire-filled BloodRayne series and Aeon Flux (PS2, Xbox). Founded by ex-Terminal Reality and EA staff, Red Fly Studio is also working on Mushroom Men (Wii, DS), its first announced title.
Though developer ZootFly created and publicized a well-received Ghostbusters game prototype earlier this year, it will not be involved with the game's development due to licensing issues. It is instead working on TimeO, a ghost-hunting title that shares several similarities to the Ghostbusters brand.
"I am sure the [Ghostbusters] game will kick ass as it's in the hands of an excellent developer and published by an excellent publisher," ZootFly CEO Bostjan Troha told Shacknews. "Unfortunately we don't have anything to do with this development."
The PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 editions of Ghostbusters are said to be aimed at traditional gamers, while the PS2, Wii, and DS versions are targeted at families and casual players.
The game, which is being written by Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray, will feature the vocal talents of numerous Ghostbusters alumni, including Ernie Hudson, William Atherton, Brian Doyle Murray, Annie Potts, and the above trio.
Published under Vivendi Universal's Sierra label, Ghostbusters will haunt stores in fall 2008.

The PS2 version will be targeted towards families and casual gamers? This worries me, it sounds like the Spiderman 2 PC game all over again. Fast, Friendly, and extremely flawed.
Please Chris Faylor, respond to me and give me hope!
Seriously this worries me, I love ghostbusters.-
It just sounds like they're trying to appeal to each platform's core demographic at this point. The Wii, PS2, and DS are considered more casual systems, with the hardcore and traditional gamers moving on to 360, PS3, and PC.
We'll have to wait and see, there appears to be good people behind it. That is, if you don't look at Aeon Flux. Blargh.-
Probably just more due to the fact that making cross-generation games is utterly impossible, unless you want your 360 to look like a DS game.
I'm more optimistic this way because the Gen Wii, PS2, DS team can focus on making a good game for those platforms, while the 360 PS3 team can focus on making a great next-gen game and not just trying to scale textures and geometry and not caring that it sux.

Shooting their proton cannon or whatever it's called with the Wiimote could be fun...
I hope they include the "HE SLIMED ME!" sample as a homage to the old C64 game.
I still have fond memories of the Ghostbusters films, even though I saw the first film again a few years ago, expecting to love it like when I was a kid, and thought it was fucking terrible. I was embarrassed to have liked it. Ruined my childhood memories. A game could still be fun, though, and it will hopefully be updated for its now-grown-up audience.
