Battlefield 3 Details Leaked?
Rumored first Battlefield 3 details leak on to the Internet. No denial from EA so far.
According to the article--which cites an anonymous investor briefing that was sent in by a tipster--Battlefield 3 will apparently be returning to the modern setting of Battlefield 2, following the series' brief foray into the future in Battlefield 2142. One example of a map is titled "Baghdad Burning," with the only two playable factions consisting of NATO and the Middle Eastern Coalition.
The extensive feature list notes the game will ship with only 8 maps, supporting up to 80 players total in online play. Online stat tracking and awards will be taken further with a new "Soldier" feature, which will allow for avatars that can be designed as in a massively multiplayer game, and outfitted with unlockable armor and other accessories. Game mechanics appear to be similar to past games, including ticket-based capture points, five playable classes (Sniper, Assault, Engineer, Medic, Support), 48 vehicles, and 34 weapons.
Though only Windows Vista and OS X are listed as supported operating systems, it is hard to imagine Windows XP users will be left out of the dust. The game will supposedly use the "Frostbite DX" engine, apparently a version of the same engine used in the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company. In-game replay and recording features, popular in recent games such as Halo 3 and EA Black Box's skate., are also bullet-pointed.
The report concludes with a teaser trailer and announcement set for January 2008, along with a tentative public beta scheduled for next summer. Given the questionable nature of this rumor--the low number of maps in particular stands out as an oddity--keep your eyes peeled for either a confirmation or denial from EA in the future.

But man...... seriously, 80 players max? A bigger, better Karkand? You have to admit that EA knows how to lure gamers. We all know it'll be buggy as hell, and we'll still end up buying it :(

i put over 200 hours into bf2 and only saw the red/blue bug twice MAYBE. other than that i had no problems. maybe if you actually played the games you could talk about how buggy they were, but since that obviously isn't the case, i wonder how you know wtf.
plus it is funny how you make a living around here trolling bf games. this game hasnt even been announced yet and you're already talking shit about it. give up man.-

Hello, have you seen that server browser? what a POS. I'm not even going to count the Crash to Desktops (but there where a lot!!!). Every Clan match I was in I saw the Red Blue name bug, so I stopped playing in matches. Not once did the game ever Exit nicely. It was always a hard crash with a error message. There stats system was broken for the longest time on half the servers. The very first patch they released caused a huge Memory leak. That if you didn't restart after a couple of rounds it was going to crash to desktop.
However, I will admit by the time they released there last patch 1.4 (what ever the latest patch is) that games was/is amazing to play. All of my complaints went away. However the game had already been out for over a year at that point.

I actually bought BF2142 when it was released, played it a LOT and enjoyed it, but when I went back to BF2, I couldn't believe how much better the fights in BF2 are. I don't know what it is, I just don't like the fights in 2142. The guns feel cheap, arty is useless, maps are mostly big spam fests... ugh. It's even more apparent in the latest expansion Northern Strike.
Don't get me started on Titan mode.
On the other hand, I liked the must faster loading times, gorgeous graphics, good player upgrades (esp. the squad leader upgrades), mechs are a blast to use, and more but I forgot...
