Majesco Q3 Losses Double, Blast Works Delayed
Accompanying the dour news was a delay for the North American release of Budcat Games' Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy, the Wii port of indie developer Kenta Cho's PC shooter TUMIKI Fighters. The game will now be released in the coming fiscal year's first quarter ending January 31, rather than during its previously announced launch window of the current year's fourth quarter ending October 31.
Thankfully, the delay will give Budcat time to add online functionality through "the sharing of custom ships, levels and high scores with friends via WiiConnect24," according to the announcement.
The company's sales were also down for the quarter at $10.0 million, compared to $12.4 million the previous year, attributed to a "light release schedule" in the earnings statement. Of its revenues, 74% came from handheld systems, with 66% from the DS alone--no doubt led by Office Create's relatively hot-selling Cooking Mama on DS, which has sold more than 500,000 units.
Regarding the remainder of the sales, 25% came from console games, with more than half of these sales coming from Wii titles.

Wow, I wonder why they're doing so poorly. I thought they owned a lot of pretty lucrative IPs?
