Sam & Max Return To GameTap For Season Two

The episodic adventures of Steve Purcell's adorable freelance police duo Sam & Max will continue this fall, developer Telltale Games announced today.

As with the first season, episodes of Sam & Max Season Two will premiere on GameTap, the Turner Broadcasting-owned subscription-based digital distribution platform. Gamers will then be able to purchase and download individual episodes from Telltale's website the day after they debut on GameTap, instead of waiting two weeks as they did with Season One.

"Season One was a great success, but it's just a starting point for us," said Telltale CEO Dan Connors, who previously confirmed to Shacknews that Season Two was underway. "The episodic model presents so many opportunities to innovate and engage the audience in brand new ways. Just wait until you see what Telltale and GameTap have in store with Season Two."

"We're keeping the general structure and gameplay, and focusing on telling farther-reaching, crazier stories," explained design director Dave Grossman. "You'll see some changes to the world, too; improvements that were born out of player feedback and our own desire to make the most fun games anyone has ever played."

With the announcement, Telltale sent along a lone render of Stinky's, the diner located down the street from Sam & Max's office that was closed for all of Season One.

More details on the new season will be revealed at tomorrow's San Diego Comic Con panel "Episodic Games and Comics--Made for Each Other." Scheduled to begin at 11:30 in room 1AB, the panel will be moderated by Shacknews editor-in-chief Chris Remo.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.
