... acclaimed?
Vietcong was an ok game, but I would never call it's game play "acclaimed"-

Vietcong got 7.9 score from Gamespot. And the only reason it didn't score above 9 was because of technical problems at launch.

You don't know what you're talking about, Vietcong was a great game. One of the best for sure. The training alone blows anything, absolutely anything out of the water. Control scheme is currently yet still unmatched by any game out there. You want to bring up sights and keep them there whithout holding button? Just tap it, you want to momentarily bring them up fire off a shot and put them away? Just hold it and the game will figure it out the moment you let go off the button. This scheme works for every toggable control in the game including crouch, run, ect. Most games only have one or the other (quake and medal of honor for example), some have both but you have to bind two different buttons. Vietcong has both schemes under single button to make sure you have it both ways. Single player wise the game was incredible. Great story and atmosphere. Great action too. You could drive vehicles and in some cases mount gattling gun on helicopter too. Multiplayer was a little flakey I'll admitt, the game had a few bugs, but it also urged team to work as a team ala Team Fortress. Overall Vietcong was one hell of a game but extremely underrated. I think the only other war game that offered me so much fun was Call of Duty. Medal of honor was a solid game too, but not so much action packed.
