  • My earliest gaming memory? I couldn't have been older than 4, and we were visiting some family friends, one of whom had just bought the newly released NES. After watching others play it for a few hours, I finally got my turn and played Super Mario Bros. I held the controller upside-down, and I remember it took me a long time to learn to move. As soon as I did, I took a few steps forward and was promptly killed by the first goomba. I was told I had to jump on it. So with my 2nd life, I walked forward to the goomba, determined to best it. As hard as I swung the controller around, as much as I myself jumped trying to will Mario to do the same, my 2nd life was lost. Instructed in the art of pushing "A", I strolled forward, newly armed with dangerous knowledge. I pushed A, launched myself into the air, and smote my foe.

But nobody told me there would be more goombas. And my turn came to an end almost as quickly as victory had come.

My PC is no longer of gaming-calibur, but I have a Wii, PStwo, Xbox 360, and a DS.
