Resident Evil 7 Boss Fight: How to Beat Jack Baker
Jack 'Daddy' Baker is the patriarch of the Baker family who wants to see you dead in RE7. Follow this strategy guide to defeating him.
Jack Baker is the first of the Baker family you’ll have to face in Resident Evil 7. Unlike the fight with Mia, fighting Jack is a challenging proposition, and you’ll have to stay on your toes to keep from dying. You’ll be forced into a fight with Jack Baker three times during the game. Although there are other instances where you can choose to fight Jack, any other time you encounter him in RE7 you can run away.
The strategies below will help you to defeat Jack in Resident Evil 7 and avoid being Daddy Baker’s latest victim.
Fighting Jack in the Garage Boss Fight
The best way to fight Jack in the first challenging fight of RE7 is not to try and fight him at all. You can use your newly acquired G17 Handgun to stun him if you need to, but your real objective is to get in the car in the garage and use it to run him over. The keys to the car are on the workbench across from the driver’s door of the car.
You’ll want to make sure you have enough time to get in the car and start the engine before Jack pulls you out, so lead him over to the passenger side and shoot him in the head a few times to stun him. Once you’re able to get in the car, just floor it and hit Jack with the car as many times as you can. Once he jumps on the car, the fight is over, just lean back and enjoy the show.
Fighting Jack in the Butcher Room Boss Fight
When you make your way into the basement of the main house and proceed to the Butcher Room, you’ll find Jack has set a trap for you in the form of one of the three dog heads you need to escape out the back door. When you attempt to pick up the dog head, Jack Baker ambushes you and pushes you into the pit below, trapping you. You’re then forced to fight him, and this fight is the hardest you’ve faced yet.
In the first part of the fight, you’ll want to run from Jack and try and get a body between you and him. Once he’s in front of a body, you can press the action button on the opposite side and throw the body into him, stunning him for a moment. While Jack is stunned, take aim with your G17 Handgun and fire at his head. Repeat this tactic of running away, stunning Jack with a body, and precision pistol shots to his head until he runs to the cage on the North side of the pit.
You’ll want to follow him to the cage as he removes a pair of chainsaw shears to use against you. In the same cage, Jack got his shears; you can get a Chainsaw. This part of the fight is a bit trickier than the first part because Jack is a lot faster and deals a lot more damage. Try to use the bodies as you did before. They will stun Jack for a shorter amount of time, but in that time you can run to his side or back and use the aim button plus the fire button to saw into Jack continuously. Utilizing the guard function is essential to surviving this fight as well. When Jack attacks, use the guard button to deflect his attack. This will occasionally cause him to stumble and leave him open for a sawing. Always try to attack from his side or back as he will catch the blade of your saw in his shears if you come from the front.
Jack will be wounded and mutate from his back when you’ve caused enough damage. Attack the nasty pus-filled mutation on his back when he falls until it pops then get back on the defensive. Once you’ve popped the mutation two or three times, you’ll saw all the way through his torso, and the fight will be over.
How to Beat Jack at the Pier Boat House Boss Fight
I found this fight to be easier than the one against him in the Butcher Room. The best weapon to use for this boss fight is the shotgun. To defeat Jack in this horribly mutated form, you just have to destroy all his eyes. It only takes one shotgun shell to destroy an eye, so just keep moving around the room and blowing away eyes as you see them. Eventually, you’ll have to drop down to the lower level to get a shot at Jack’s remaining eyes, but his attacks are easy to avoid in general. If you’re running low on ammo, there are boxes you can break around the top and bottom level to get more items.
Once you take out all of Jack’s eyes, he’ll flop down to the lower level and regenerate his main eye on his face. You’ll then need to shoot it out one last time. It’s a little more resilient than the first time, and it takes two or three shotgun shells to destroy this time. After you destroy the last eye, it’ll seem like Jack’s dead. However, he’ll grab you as you walk out the door. Use the button prompt on the screen to inject Jack with the serum and watch as he calcifies and your nemesis dies for good this time.
