E3 2016: Second Halo Wars 2 beta coming for Xbox One and PC (Update)
Another beta for both platforms will be coming closer to the February launch of the game.
Update: Apparently the PC beta for Windows 10 was available during E3. Microsoft clarified that a second beta for bothe Xbox One and Windows 10 will come later.
“We are planning a second beta closer to launch that will be available on both Windows 10 and Xbox One, and the Windows 10 version of Halo Wars 2 was available to play at E3. We look forward to sharing more details in the future.”
Original Story: The Xbox One beta for Halo Wars 2 is in full swing, but PC players were starting to wonder if developer 343 Industries would show them some love as well. Have no fear, PCers. You will get your beta, but the "when" is still up in the air.
Dan Ayoub, studio chief for 343, told Shacknews in its livestream that the term beta has lost some of its meaning over the years and that the current Xbox One beta is a true developer beta for feedback and changes, as opposed to one released just to gerenate buzz. To accentuate the point, he said an update to the beta has already rolled out today.
"We will have another beta that will be PC that people can hop in on," he told us. The game would be more polished by then, adding "This will be closer to launch. We will react to it. We have really good tuning tools that will allow us to react to feedback quickly." He did not offer any more specifics, however.
That's good news considering the game is Play Anywhere once the game launches on February 21 next year. And the PC beta will offer some consolation for all players who might be disappointed that there won't be any cross-platform play for the upcoming RTS, which 343 is creating in conjunction with The Creative Assembly.
