Rumor: New Call of Duty may be Infinite Warfare; announcement could hit next week
Alleged leaked retail list and PlayStation Store entry shows a reveal may be coming May 3.
Update: A new post on NeoGAF shows an entry in the PlayStation Store for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, apropos given the developer. Activision is keeping mum at the moment, but things are getting curiouser and curiouser.
Original Story: The timing is about right for a new Call of Duty game, and as if on cue, an image has shown up that says that an announcement for the next game in the franchise should be unveiled next week.
The image, which was tweeted by internet personality Jim Sterling (via NeoGAF), supposedly shows a retail sheet planning in-store displays. In this case the new Call of Duty game will replace old Star Fox Zero displays, and should happen next Tuesday, May 3.
While this could indeed be accurate, this is far from a certainty. There is no branding on the sheet to show the retailer, the misspelling of the word "reveal," and don't most retailers know in advance what the game is so the materials can be posted in the store on time? Granted, we don't even know when this was dated, but it is sketchy enough to keep us from calling it a slam dunk certainty.
That said, Activision has been pretty regular with its Call of Duty reveals. Black Ops 3 was incredibly successful after being hinted at last April. And Activision has also said that the new Call of Duty would be coming this holiday season from developer Infinity Ward instead of Treyarch, which means a reveal will probably come before E3 so the hype can begin. Rumors have the game having a sci-fi space theme instead of the traditional land-based battles.
So, draw your own conclusions. Maybe Activision will surprise us and announce something before next Tuesday,

my buddy was telling me last night that the current rumor is ... its in space? It "makes Black Ops 3 look like the stone age."
Both of those things sound terrible to me. Honestly at this point I just want the COD:MW collection. Best of all the maps, guns, perks, killstreaks, remastered old assets, just pure COD without bullshit fast movement mechanics. -

Yes THIS. Everybody asking for WWII, were you guys too young to be gaming during the WWII bonanza of the early-mid 2000s? Here is a list of some of them (includes some expansion packs), spanning a timeline that covers 1999 to 2008:
Battlefield 1942
Medal of Honor
Medal of Honor: Underground
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Medal of Honor: Frontline
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Spearhead
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Breakthrough
Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
Medal of Honor: Infiltrator
Medal of Honor: European Assault
Medal of Honor: Heroes
Medal of Honor: Vanguard
Medal of Honor: Airborne
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2
Call of Duty
Call of Duty: Finest Hour
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty: World at War
It was so bad, it got to a point where professional game critics were giving games set in WWII points off merely for their setting.
But if you really want a WWII game, don't let me stop you. Pick up one of the great hits from this list of the 136 games set in WWII. You fucks.-

That's great and all, but it would be nice to have a more modern game both in visuals and mechanics in that setting. Just because they over saturated the market 15 years ago doesn't mean they can't have a game or two now. Hell, I bet most people here maybe played 2 or 3 of those games in your list, so it really has no serious relevance here.
