The Division - How to Craft Weapons and Gear Using the Crafting Station
Learn how to craft gear and weapons using the Crafting Station inside your Base of Operations.
The Division has loads of loot, which you can obtain within the world, by one of the dozens of vendors, or by crafting. This guide will walk you through the crafting process, as well as offer tips on maximizing your crafting resources.
Breaking Down Items
To break down items you no longer need, simply go into your Inventory menu, and select the category of item. You'll most often see a list of items, with an arrow tab to signify the item you have equipped. For weapons, a "I" and "II" tab will signify your primary and secondary weapon, respectively. Press LT (XBO) or L2 (PS4) to mark an item as junk. Remember, you can't mark items that are currently equipped.
Once you've marked all of the items within a category, hold down the L-stick to deconstruct, and you'll receive all of the deconstructed materials. Most weapons will constantly be cycling below your current level, so you can deconstruct them easily without worry.
Important: If you deconstruct an item that is equipped with a Mod, the Mod will be deconstructed as well. If you want to keep your mods, make sure to unequip them on all of the items you plan to deconstruct.
Finding Blueprints
Blueprints are usually mission rewards for Main and Side Missions. You can see which blueprint you'll receive by checking the Mission Reward information in the mission select screen. Once you've obtained a blueprint, it will be added to the available items at the Crafting Station.
Using the Crafting Station
The Crafting Station is slightly to the left when you first enter your Base of Operations. Opening the menu will present you with a list of item types:
- Weapons
- Masks
- Body Armor
- Backpacks
- Gloves
- Holsters
- Knee Pads
- Weapon Mods
- Gear Mods
The final option, Material Conversion, lets you take materials you already have and refine them into higher quality materials.
Once you're ready to craft, simply hold down A (XBO) or X (PS4) to craft the item, and then press X (XBO) or Square (PS4) to equip it. Be sure to remember to transfer any mods from your old weapons manually, since there is no automatic transfer option.
