Xbox One controller getting wireless adapter for Windows this year
Microsoft is finally giving us the wireless adapter we've wanted for its Xbox One controller.
Microsoft has announced it’s planning on releasing a wireless adapter for Xbox One controllers some time later this year.
The wireless adapter will allow those who play PC games with an Xbox One controller to finally enjoy wireless freedom as you no longer will need to be tethered to your computer through a USB cable.
Microsoft followed a similar path when it announced Xbox 360 controllers would be compatible with PCs several years ago. They allowed the controller to be playable via a USB cable, and later, delivered a wireless adapter for its controller.
There’s no word as of yet when the Xbox One wireless adapter will be available for sale, nor how much it will cost. I would have to guess it would be around $30 when it first releases as that’s what the Xbox 360’s wireless adapter cost when it first released.
In my review of the Xbox One Controller + Cable for Windows, one of the few gripes I had with the controller was the fact that a wireless adapter wasn't available at the time. Now that Microsoft has assured customers one will soon be available, that's one less minor gripe I have with the controller.
