WildStar prepares for Megaservers this week
WildStar will go down on Wednesday to prepare for Megaservers and players will be compensated handsomely for the inconvenience.
The folks at Carbine Studios have been very busy trying to make WildStar the best MMORPG it can possibly be. Among the priorities has been the deployment of Megaservers and that appears to finally be a reality.
Carbine will bring down all WildStar servers on Wednesday, October 15 at 5:00AM PDT for roughly 12-24 hours to begin the process of merging WildStar's servers together. North America and Europe will each receive a dedicated Megaserver for PvE and PvP play. The developer notes that Megaservers will allow for increased server capacity, but also acknowledges that the downtime could be an inconvenience. That's why they're offering up some compensation.
"This is not standard maintenance, so in appreciation for your patience while we make this transition, we are giving a month’s worth of Boom-Boxes (One per day for 30 days) and a free day of game time to all our players, with the additional time to be credited to accounts by no later than the end of October," reads the WildStar FAQ.
Duplicate player names will be handled through the addition of surnames, while conflicting guild names will be given to whoever claimed the name first. Anyone that loses out on a guild name will be prompted to rename it.
