Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the Platinum-developed action spin-off game starring Raiden, will be available on PC on January 9th. The PC version will include all three DLC missions: Blade Wolf, Jetstream, and VR Missions, in addition to all the customized body upgrades for Raiden, including the Cyborg Ninja skin.

Additional new features include the ability to rewatch cutscenes, listen to codec conversations, and jump straight to boss battles.

The PC version will also let you modify resolution, anti-aliasing, and "zangeki"--which determines the number of cuts you can make on hapless enemies. The game will normally go for $30, but GameFly has it on sale for $20.

Huge Metal Gear fan but haven't played this or even know much about it. How true to the franchise is it? Worthy of Kojima story?

Think of it more as a side-story, and the gameplay is nothing like MGS. But it is pretty fucking awesome and just as insane as you'd expect.

Its fun but has almost nothing to do with MGS story wise. Gameplay wise its very unique too, Ninja Gaiden + bayonetta and some unique things all its own.

Its canon to the overall Metal Gear storyline and takes place 4 years after MGS4, building off events from there. They simply managed to write a story that has very few spoilers from earlier games.

It's also pretty short. 6 hours TOPS, in case that factors into your buying decision.

6 hours. In other words it's more replayable than most games these days.

I think it's one of those games designed to be played repeatedly and usually is by people who like the genre. Once was enough for me.

I tried this on the PS3 when it was part of the PS+ games.

After about an hour of play, I sighed, turned it off and uninstalled it. I'm probably broken and dead inside and other people will enjoy this tremendously, but the game is just too... over the top. Running over rockets in mid air, jumping from rocket to rocket, only to land on top of a building, run down the side to eviscerate a giant robot sounds really cool, but all I could think of was how... stupid it all was. It's like the developer's design for this game was "Let's make the perfect game for a 14-year old". It looks great, the features are neat, but I just couldn't take it. It was just too incredible for me to feel involved and my suspense of disbelief was very quickly shattered.

Anyone else feel the same? I'd like to think I'm not a grumpy old gamer (yet) :(

That said, if you like DMC's gameplay, Ninja Gaiden's swordplay and design and Metal Gear games, it is a great combination of those three. It just wasn't for me, I fear
