As CVG points out, retailers like Best Buy and Target have the 12GB SKU on sale. However, as we've previously pointed out, the upcoming GTA5 bundle is a better deal for anyone looking to get a new PS3. For $70 more, that bundle includes a 500GB system and a copy of the game ($60).

This is a great play on Sony's part, when parents walk into Target Xmas shopping, which is more appealing, 4GB 360 for $200, or 12GB PS3? They honestly should have had this in the U.S. a year ago.

Well the xbox360 has a $99 option already with the subscription model, plus they could drop the price again or easily bump the 4GB to a 16GB and be done with it.

it would have been a great play years ago when MS introduced their 199 model. at this point it's moot. everyone is going to be clamouring for the PS4.

parents don't look at gee-bees when buying consoles. their kid wants either an xbox or PS3, not just "a console for the best deal". so it's kind of irrelevant. kids will ask for one or the other.

You'd be surprised. "Bigger number is better" has been ingrained. Not all parents are as savvy as you and I.

What's interesting is that when people refer to those "parents" really it's actually a lot of us now or people just a few years older than a lot of us on the Shack. Like there are snide comments about parents when buying a console for their kid are only looking at the retail price and not specs or games, but those parents are us now. We're old man!

I'm actually tempted to pick this up to play those few must have titles I missed.

Good news. Before beginning to listen to Weekend Confirmed all those years ago I couldn't care less that I did not have a PS3 and was missing out on PS3 exclusives. Now, I feel like I'm obligated to play the Uncharted Series and The Last of Us. Maybe also Heavy Rain...

I got the 250GB model for this price in a leftover black friday bundle. Came with Infamous 1&2 and Uncharted 1&2. Still haven't dove into any of the games, but based on what I've seen the Infamous series looks more fun from a platforming/combat perspective. Is that assumption correct?

Makes no sense considering there will be a GTAV 500gb bundle for $270...

With the 250 GB GTA V bundle version going for $269, there's absolutely no reason to buy this. Seems like kind of a dumb price point, for uninformed people.

it's like one of the most important price points you can hit with a home console historically (obviously $99 is even better but that takes so long it's rarely relevant)

Is that even big enough for a typical install on every ps3 game? I could swear I've had 25GB installs before but I could be mistaken.
