Update: This is now available on the U.S. app store for $4.99.

Colin McRae Rally, a predecessor to the modern (but currently dormant) Dirt series, has been dusted off for a new platform. Codemasters is releasing a new Rally game for iOS devices, boasting off-road action with a few new bells and whistles.

The game features thirty rally stages across Greece, Corsica, and Australia. The cars include the Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, Lancia Stratos, and Colin McRae's Ford Focus. Rally co-driver Nicky Grist will give pace notes as you negotiate the turns. And of course, it includes leaderboards and achievements.

The New Zealand App Store listing (via All Games Beta) lists it for $6.49. That implies it should be on the way here tomorrow, though not necessarily at the same price. It is compatible with iPad 2 or newer, iPhone 4S/5, and iPod Touch 5th Gen devices.

2 was fantastic, especially since it had an Australia stage which most of the later ones didn't!
