Hohokum whimsying onto PS3, PS4 and Vita in 2014

Honeyslug's Hohokum has put in a fair few appearances at games events over the years, even scooping an IGF nomination in 2011, but the particulars of its release have been a mystery until now. The Frobisher Says! dev yesterday revealed that it has teamed up with Sony's Santa Monica Studio to bring it to PlayStation 3, PS4, and Vita in 2014. It's lovely.

"One of the main aims for Hohokum is to create something where the usual pressures of videogames – constantly being told to do things, fearing failure and being challenged to earn progress – were all absent," artist and co-creator Richard Hogg said in a PlayStation Blog post.

"There are goals and secrets to discover. There are even Trophies. But at its heart Hohokum is a playground, a place to wander about, perhaps even lose yourself in."

Honeyslug's Ricky Haggett added in an interview with Game Informer, "So a big goal for us is figuring out a way to give players enough information about what the 'goals' of the game are without this impacting negatively on the people who are content to take things at their own pace and figure it all out organically."
