Fez leaps onto PC on May 1st

Fez is coming to Steam on May 1st.

Phil Fish promised his "2D" platformer, Fez, would be moving onto other platforms. Lo, and behold--PC is the next platform for the critically acclaimed indie hit.

A new listing on Steam promises a May 1st release. There's no word on any PC-exclusive features, other than standard support for Steam achievements, leaderboards, and Steam Cloud. The listing does not mention a price, but the XBLA version currently goes for $10.

Given Fez's relatively unassuming nature, the game doesn't demand much. So long as you have Windows XP SP3, a Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz or better, 2GB of RAM, and "any OpenGL 3.0" GPU with DirectX 9, you'll be fine. You may want to invest in a strategy guide, however.

I don't understand people who say he seemed decent in the movie, he seemed like a hard-headed unwavering elitist with no personal skills what so ever.

Really? He seemed like a arrogant man child to me, he's nothing more then a whiney brat and I for one won't be giving this guy any money.

Oh let's not forget the irony in how he said, "PCs are for spreadsheets, not games".

It was a jokey sarcastic comment, of course pc gamers are so absurd they read it as a hate crime against their beloved platform. Speak about whiney brats.

Yes, the guy has said some assholish things in the past. So did the the creator of Braid. It doesn't make their games any less good though. :/

I was brushing my teeth last night and thinking of my last XBLA game (MGS Peace Walker) and felt those 800 points would have been better spent on Fez. Then I remembered the exclusivity should be up soon and wondered when the PC version would be out.

      Nice.

Actually, I'd consider that CPU requirement to be really high for an indie game. 2.8 Ghz C2D may not sound like much but you can play Far Cry 3 with less than that, most AAA games, really.

the game ran slightly chuggy on xbox as well, its poorly optimized but if you play games and for some reason have problems with a dualcore at sub 3ghz requirement you might consider upgrading around now.

and farcry 3 is hugely gpu dependednt, i'm going to take a bet that you can run fez on onboard graphics cards of the last generation without a problem so ist just the other end of the spectrum.

So would I. It's pretty ridiculous for this kind of game.

I was able to play Far Cry 2 and Portal 2 at 30 FPS on high settings with a 3.4ghz Pentium 4. Games like Trine, Rayman Origins, Mark of the NInja, and Bionic Commando Rearmed all ran at 60.

So yeah, this game seems very poorly optimized if these specs are true.
