Borderlands 2 'almost certainly' getting another character

Gearbox head Randy Pitchford said the team is "working on" another character class for Borderlands 2, and again reaffirmed that a level cap increase is in development.

Borderlands 2 is most likely getting a sixth playable character, according to Gearbox studio head Randy Pitchford. This would be the sixth character in the game, after the four on-disc and pre-order bonus Mechromancer.

The revelation comes from Pitchford's Twitter. Asked if another class is coming, he replied, "Almost certainly yes. We're working on it."

In regards to the promised level cap increase, which is proving trickier than anticipated, Pitchford urged patience. "News as soon as we can," he said. "Sorry I can't offer more yet - I get skewered when things change in development, whatever the reason."

      i'm actually not that excited with the current roster. the commando and assassin are big disappointments from the first game. Mordecai plus his upgraded hawk was fucking awesome in BL1 but the new guy with his ninja attack is so boring. Turret utility also seems to be severely degraded even with the shield the turret provides you no real cover at all and is more of a distraction than in the first you throw down the turret and that is where you'd make your stand. I've just gotten to the point where I can throw down 2 turrets now so maybe that will make things a bit better (lvl ~31ish).

        Completely agree with the Hunter/Assassin comparison. Mordecai was my favorite in the first, but Zer0 is far and away my least liked character. As far as the turrets go, they made them scale WAY better in BL2 than the first one. They were pretty useless endgame, but this time around, they provide a significant bit of damage as well as a good distraction.

        zero isn't really exciting until you get level 50... then he seems to become a monster.

        for Zero, I equip alot of slagging weaps with melee bonus - slag-slash repeat for chewing through many enemies. this requires a pretty sturdy shield and a good amount of skill with the stealthing mechanic. but there's support skills that return health on melee IIRC, that stuff is needed for Zero funtimes.

        The turret ability makes no sense to be in the same tree as the "sticks the fuck anywhere" ability. So I can deploy a shield with a turret I can take cover under, but if I deploy it on a wall it's useless. Great.

        The rocket barage is pretty amazing though, it actually does significantly more damage than anything my lvl 5 commando can dish out, especially with a pair of turrets wailing on the same target.

        Use LongBow to put the turret anywhere you want. You just seem lazy about the whole thing.

        what are the Best DLC options so far? And I've seen people talk about raid bosses - is there something else i hsould be doing on my True Vault Hunter playthrough?

          The raid bosses are all Level 50 and don't unlock until you beat The Warrior in TVH mode.

          IMO, the DLCs have degraded each iteration. Pirate's Booty was pretty good, Torgue's was pretty 'meh' for content, but it was humorous, and Sir Hammerlocks was just dreadful.

          don't do any of the side quests. Finish the game again and then complete them so you can get the powerful level 50 guns.

        Speculation says that you'll have a third playthrough, for the storyline and the DLC, for whatever that's worth. Probably best to wait to get the details from the horses mouth, though.

      Is the Mechromancer any good?

      I'm level 39 on my Commando and pretty bored with it. Thinking about starting a new game from scratch.

        It's so good it's almost op, except on most large bosses, which won't be attacked by your robot thing.

        she is the best option for solo play. go with a pure elemental build and shred some bad guys. anarchy is nice, but mostly unnecesarry.

        They said it was going to break the game since they balanced everything for 50, but said they were still going to proceed with it.

          this is why i hate games with enemies that have levels set for specific areas. either make the enemies' levels scale everywhere you go, or just do it the doom way: increase difficulty through sheer numbers of enemies instead of the same enemy with higher damage and health

              I liked the way they did it in the Mass Effect series.

              Instead of making the enemies generally uniform (i.e. all health with a couple with shields) you mix it up quite a bit. You make one armored, another with shields, another shooting slag guns, etc. It makes you use your experience to help with the damage output and makes it a little more interesting.

              To a point, they did that with True Vault Hunter mode, but then also made it so ridiculous with the damage taken that two hits can down you easily. I think they went too far, especially with some of the boss battles. Borderlands 2 difficulty is all over the place.

                Yeah, I enjoyed the strategy of switching between guns during fights, choosing the right tool for the job.

                At the risk of sounding like an internet tough guy, I didn't encounter much of a problem past about 30 minutes in to TVH myself, it was a rather smooth transition. That being said, I did complete every side mission available, so Im sure I far outleveled it. The only true jump in difficulty ive found so far is the raid bosses. The warrior is a joke compared to them, they are simply rage inducing.
