If you have ever wanted to play god and raise your own little planet of flora and fauna, Sony released a new "Discovery app" today for the Vita called Ecolibrium, where you are master of caring for your little world.

The app tasks you with evolving the food chain and maintaining the natural balance of your world through the changing seasons. Doing so properly nets you points that you can spend on new specimens from the lab. Ecolibrium also supports trophies for those interested in gathering achievements.

The game is part of an initiative by Sony to mix "gameplay with life experiences," such as social networking. You can collect creatures using the GPS feature by finding wildlife released into the wild by nearby friends. You can also show them off to your friends on Facebook. Sony promises more ways to evolve your ecosystem in the future.
