DayZ video dev diary teaches how to get dressed

A nice slice of DayZ is on display in the mod-gone-standalone's first video developer diary. The 15-minute entry introduces its new menu system, how to put together a fetching outfit, item spawns which require actual searching to find, new swampland, the recovered island of Utes, and more.

"Development is continuing to progress in extremely positive ways for us," creator Dean 'Rocket' Hall said in accompanying blog post, having recently delayed the game.

"We're working very hard on the inventory system even more, and it looks like the crafting system is close in next in our development. It would be fair to say that inventory and crafting are the key development objective currently, second only to the client/server architecture (makes DayZ more like an MMO), and new zombie AI mechanics (an ongoing task)."

still cracks me up how they tried to release it not even half finished, then told us gamers that we're stupid, then backpedaled, apologized, and now we get dev diaries for a game that should already be finished.

      ...right.

That was The War Z. Made by someone else who tried to rip off Day Z.

I see why Rocket is upset over this, it's creating so much confusion :(

That was War Z. Day Z is the game War Z ripped off in the first place.

because as is evidenced here people aren't making a distinction between an arma2 mod and the commercial product that ripped it off, and thus dayz gets a bunch of unjustified bad publicity from the war z's failures

Not sure why everyone is jumping on this guy. If Rocket was so smart maybe he should've named his game something else to avoid this kind of confusion.

I guess because I'm "in the loop" I take it for granted that there's a clear difference between the game you're talking about WAR Z and the game this article is about- DayZ. I definitely understand Rocket's frustration. This post alone annoys the hell out of me.

          Yeah, waah waah.

Maybe he should have picked a different name for his commercial release to avoid confusion with the rest.

Anyone play the update last night? Zeds are pretty touchy, but you can lose them much easier. I like it.

Didn't like them attacking me through car windows and breaking windscreen glass, but I can handle it. Much more realistic than being able to just sit in the middle of a pile of zeds, just because you're in a car.
