Capcom survey gauges interest in new Mega Man games, HD remixes

How would you like a port of Resident Evil Remake for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade? Maybe you'd like a brand new Street Fighter Alpha HD? Maybe you'd want a new 2D Mega Man game running in HD? Capcom is tossing around a number of digital game ideas, and they're asking fans to chime in.

"Obviously, we have many opinions internally and we're looking to gather some data about your buying habits and what franchises and even title types, you'd like us to make in the future," Capcom's Christian Svensson told fans. "So that end, I've been allowed to share this survey with all of you. The survey will only take a few minutes of your time and it's a great opportunity to let your voices be heard directly."

The survey can be found on Capcom-Unity, but Svensson warns that although "this data will be a factor in our decision making process," "there's no guarantees on what the outcomes will be." A few other possible games mentioned by the survey include ports of Dino Crisis, HD ports of Power Stone, an HD remix of Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins, ports of Onimusha, and even brand new games in the Resident Evil franchise. And there's like two whole pages devoted to Mega Man, proving that he isn't exactly dead to Capcom.

Oh, and did we mention Viewtiful Joe? You should make a new Vietiful Joe happen.

i'd like HD remakes if they updated the gameplay a bit and made them more approachable (save games and the like)

Sign me up for new HD Mega Man side-scrollers and a port of the REmake. I still play my GameCube version every couple of years, but I now own every RE as a digital game on PS3 and would love to add the REmake to the list.

Adaptors for the Steel Battalion controller, plus HD remakes of SB and LoC and new sequels and/or IP that support the controller and aren't crap.

That kinect bullshit for the next SB broke my heart.

A USB adapter would be fantastic. Personally though, they should just release the damn game for PC and put a foot forward in support for bringing back the joystick.

I'd kill for a good solid return of the simulator genre.

Ha, someone beat me to it. I put in my vote for a (proper) Steel Battalion update as well. May as well try.

I like all the Battle Network talk. While the story is probably tapped out I don't want that awesome battle chip system to die!

Capcom needs to take another look at the following franchises:

      Strider
      Final Fight
Dungeons and Dragons (or any derivative from the mechanics established by ToD and SoM)
Ghouls and Ghosts / Demon Crest (sans Maximo)
Area 88 / UN Squadron (or a derivative from the mechanics establshed)
Viewtiful Joe (or fuck anything by Clover. killer7, Okami, Godhand)
      Ghost Trick
      Zack and Wiki
Steel Battallion (For the PC and support for simulator joysticks)
POWER STONE POWER STONE POWER STONE POWER STONE. FUCKING POWER STONE

Capcom, like many others felt the need to reinvent franchises for the 3d consoles back in the day. Ghouls and Ghosts became Maximo. Final Fight had Streetwise. Even Street Fighter had the EX series. With few exceptions these were met with low fanfare. We are only now realizing that you don't have to be 3d to be fun. Megaman 9 and 10 had proven this and probably the best example is how a simple remake of the classic Bionic Commander was met with greater praise than the lackluster reboot about a guy married to his arm.

Take everything listed above and just stick to its basics. Add a little extra mechanic here and there to spice things up but all and all be well grounded in its roots and you'll have a fantastic game.
