Assassin's Creed is one of the surest bets in Ubisoft's catalog, and adding the backdrop of the American Revolution must have been a no-brainer. Despite critical enthusiasm dipping over the last two games, Assassin's Creed 3 has become the fastest-selling game in the Ubisoft's history. The company announced today that it had reached 7 million sales after one month on shelves.

This is according to Ubisoft's worldwide estimates, which also recorded roughly 3.5 million in its first week. Ubi also estimates that in the story campaign, players have put in 82 centuries of game time, and performed 3 billion assassinations. That's almost half the world's population getting virtual stab wounds in the neck. The multiplayer has gotten twice as many players as Revelations, racking up 250 million assassinations among 5 billion multiplayer sessions.

Recently the Hidden Secrets DLC pack launched, but had the adverse effect of assassinating some save games in the process.

I dont want to be a downer, but from all the Assassins Creeds ( AC1 excluded) this had to be the most boring. Im 6 hours into the game and still feel like a loser doing stupid run around jobs. It took me almost 5 hours to finally get my robes. Its starting to pick up but still kinda lack luster.

seriously - had been slogging through for about 6 hours and then started up Far Cry 3 and remembered what it was like to have fun again.

pretty sure I had a broken save with fc3, no weapons or knife. I didn't even care I had to roll back 3 hours to an earlier save, tons of fun and I wanted to see the cutscenes and replay it.

I am having a decent time playing it. I think the difference between this one and the some of the previous ones like AC2 (which was the best) is that it is more RDR in terms of running around and doing side quests then it is a pure action/assassin game. If you look at it as more a game from the SKYRIM/RDR mold of games and less of the blow shit up up/kill everyone games, I think you will enjoy it more.

I do think they made a massive mistake in the way they marketed it. The commercials and media make it look like a heart pounding action title, which it is not and becomes very obvious from stupidly long build up over the first 4-5 hours of training and such. Lots of people will buy the game due to the marketing and by the time the masses get through the boring beginning many people will be disappointed.

Wait. A Ubisoft article that doesn't scream about how many bazillions have been pirated? Not an article talking about the fasted pirated Ubisoft game of all time? Wait, wait. They're admitting it's still possible to sell a game when > 99.99% of all games (yeah, yeah, they usually harp on the PC platform, but go with my hyperbole) are simply pirated by every single man, woman, child and pet? Did they change PR firms?

because it was on PC less than 3 months after consoles. But seriously I'm playing through it and it seems the least deserving so far.

My copy of Ass 3 cost zero dollars from the ubisoft store (purchased a sammy ssd). I wonder how many copies they gave away with offers and counted as sales?

What? Do you think Ubisoft just gave those games to Samsung out of the goodness of their hearts?

Its a shame its selling so well because it is probably going to give them the false impression that 3 was actually good.
