As you wait for Rockstar to drip-feed more information on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5, you can pay a visit to the series' earlier skewed representation of California. A PS2 Classics release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is coming to the PlayStation Store with tomorrow's update.

No price is mentioned on the PlayStation.Blog, but if it follows in the bloody footsteps of GTA3, it will cost you $9.99. Or in San Andreas money, 1/10 of a hospital visit.

Best game in the series, IMHO!

I love them all, but I still have a soft spot for Vice City being a child of the 80s and all.

I wish they'd do it for the Stories games. I could never get into those on the PSP, and by the time they came out for the PS2, they were too ugly for me to tolerate playing them. ;)

Me too. Vice City is still the only GTA I've actually finished.

That's an odd screenshot - early version of the game maybe? IIRC Smoke and Sweet wore Grove St colors the entire game!

This is really exciting! I enjoyed GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas a lot more than I did GTA IV. It's not to say GTA IV was a bad game, it just didn't seem to have the same flair that these games did.

Easily the best game in the series thus far. GTA IV was a snore-fest, and the location itself was boring.

Vice City is another great setting, but the larger and varied map, developed story-telling, and increased interactivity of SA was amazing. I really want to see a return to 80s VC though, with the next time being a much, much larger VC. The 80s theme is awesome, though, and a great time-period in general.

What was your favorite random time-killer in SA?

I would get a 3-4 star wanted level and try to do the truck driving mission. Getting a huge-ass tanker to its destination with cops ramming you all over the place is a fun challenge.
