Battlefield 3 taclight balance tweaks incoming
DICE has taken a good look at the glaring imbalance of Battlefield 3's dazzling flashlight, and decided to tone down the power of its blinding effect. IR scopes and mobile-anti air are under investigation too.
The original dazzling long-range taclight
And its less absurd new form

even though i only play the game with IR scope, i really hope they fix it. the only reason i use it because other people can use it too. it makes the game 100x easier. im a monster with it. it needs to go away so i can see battlefield how it was meant to be seen. basiclly when i play it looks like some weird futuristic shooter all the time.

I concur.
I mean I use it...and if they leave it I'll continue to use it because there's no good reason not to do given the huge disadvantage you're at without it (if others are using it)...but I'd prefer to see them tone it down. The only real benefit of it gameplay-wise is that it does make snipers a little more vulnerable (though the scope glare seems to do that well enough). -

Am I the only one who doesn't use them? I prefer to keep switching weapons, leveling everything I have up. I've gotten the Service Star on 12 different guns, and I usually dump it for something else right away. While the IR scope is nice, I like being able to put anything I want on any weapon, so sticking with one is not going to happen until I've finished them all.

It really isn't that big of a deal. Trust me, I've played 36+ hours of the game, it's not something to be concerned with. The number of people using it and the number of times it's made a noticeable impact on the outcome of a fight is ridiculously small. If that is your only reason, then yes I say it is a dumb one.
Nice personal attack btw.

You know, they wouldn't have been so bad if they actually had a downside to them. Like a flashlight gives away your position as it does in real life, not just when you're blinded by it (like a laser). The laser pointer gives away someones position better then the tactical light. If you could actually see the cone from the flashlight that would balance it more then just nerfing it ever would and I don't mean just toning it down.
It's sad that they can't think of other ways to balance things besides linear states.
