Update: A previous version of this story incorrectly spelled the title "Resurrection." The official title is "Rezurrection."

Did you think that the impending release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would somehow stop the Black Ops DLC train? Incorrect! Activision has announced the name of the fourth DLC expansion to its popular first person shooter during its investors call. "Rezurrection" will be coming in the next quarter on Xbox 360 first, followed by PS3 and PC.

No wonder Activision is so happy to make so many downloadable map packs. "Total unique online gamers playing Call of Duty: Black Ops were more than 30% greater than the total unique online gamers who played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 during the first eight months after each game's release," the company revealed. With more active players, the company has more incentive to offer digital expansions. The four expansion packs combined will cost as much as the original retail price of the game.

Rezurrection will be available on Xbox Live on August 23rd, with releases on PC and PS3 to follow. The map pack includes four "re-mastered" zombie levels already included with the Hardened and Prestige versions of Black Ops: Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese, and the Zombie factory. In addition, it will include a brand new moon level, an enhanced soundtrack, and a "Zombies Moon" theme.

If you already own the Hardened or Prestige version of the game, you'll be able to download all the additional content from the pack, such as the new moon level, for free.

One of Swords explains how the process works for anyone that's entitled to the free download:

You’ll be able to go into your Download History and re-download the classic pack you already own, and the fresh download will include the new Moon map.

Everyone else will have to shell out the usual 1200 Microsoft Points/$15.

Update: This content is free for owners of the Hardened and Prestige editions of the game... but for a specific reason.

It must be easy as hell to make this DLC, then sell it to r-tards for $15. They probably just open photoshop and change a few textures then go into the engine and change a few numbers then charge people for it.

Actually it isn't that hard to make a map, the hard part is balancing it. A map can be created by a single person, but balancing will take many perspectives. When I mapped on the UT2k4 engine It was deadly easy to make maps and make them pretty, but then came the part of balancing the particular areas. It's impossible to satisfy everyone.

However, given that these were made by teams, yes it is easy. Most likely you have 'defensible' rooms with at least 2 entrances and 2 windows minimum. There's your layout, then you pretty it up. Add a few decals, some meshes/objects, maybe a weapon spawn and bam you got your momentum. That last sentence is almost universal for any game >.>

It still requires skilled persons to make them. But not any Joe Bob can make a level in a game or even comes close to having the patience and technical skills required.

August 23rd. Deep inside, I know that more people will be paying for and playing this than Deus Ex: Human Revolution. And that saddens me greatly.

Not a good pack for the CoD:BLOPS owners who don't like the Zombies mode.

What do you lot think about the prices of these map packs? I read an article here http://www.callofdutymappacks.com/news/the-price-is-right/ that said for some of the games the map packs were already included on the disk when people bought them!
