Microsoft sent word today that Halo Reach will be receiving more maps in March. The "Defiant Map Pack" brings three new multiplayer maps -- Condemned, Highlands, and Unearthed -- that cover a variety of game types. An exact date wasn't mentioned in the press release, but the set will cost $10 (800 MSP).

Condemned takes place on a conquered orbital station, and supports 6-12 players in Team Slayer, Team Objective, and Free for All modes. Highlands is a larger-scale map set in a forest training area, providing for 8-16 player Big Team Battle, Team Slayer, and Team Objective game types. Finally, Unearthed takes place in an underground Titanium mine, and lets 4 players group up for Firefight and its assorted modes.

The trio of maps were created in conjunction with Texas-based developer Certain Affinity, which also lent a hand in Halo Waypoint and the "First Strike" map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Check out the new trailer (above) and screens after the break.

Fuck. That. I bought the other map pack with 3 maps and I think I've played it a grand total of once.

So why didn't you play the DLC playlist?

I was the last guy to buy it in my group of friends who play reach. By then I guess they were over those 3 maps because we went back to swat.

I hate that playlist. Halo's shield and health system is a major feature that differentiates it. SWAT basically makes the game play like Call of Duty.
